South Mill and Champ’s agree to merge mushroom business

Fresh mushroom producers Champ’s and South Mill have agreed to combine their businesses to become one of the major producers and suppliers of mushrooms and other produce.

The companies will continue to operate as independent business entities and the management teams of both companies will remain active in the day-to-day operations.

Based in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, US, South Mill has been in the mushroom business for four generations.

South Mill currently operates four distribution centres in Texas, Louisiana, and Georgia, and distributes fresh and processed mushrooms throughout the US and eastern Canada.

South Mill co-CEO Michael Pia said: “Champ’s and South Mill share similar values, with a demonstrated commitment to and care for their customers and employees.

“Together we will have production facilities on both North American coasts and a distribution platform to supply retail and food service channels nationwide.”

Established in 1998 in British Columbia, Canada, by the Quach family, Champ’s Mushrooms has been supplying mushroom products in Western Canada.

The two companies noted that they will continue to deliver the same high standards of product quality and customer service to their consumers in the US and Canada.
