Sensient to divest yoghurt fruit preparations product line to Frulact

US-based Sensient Technologies has agreed to divest some of its assets related to the production of its yoghurt fruit preparations product line to ingredients supplier Frulact.

Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed by either company.

Sensient chairman, president and CEO Paul Manning said: “Sensient previously announced three divestiture targets; this divestiture is the second transaction that has progressed to the signing of a definitive agreement.

“I am pleased that we have been able to reach agreement on the sale of the inks business and the yoghurt fruit preparations product line, which will allow us to focus on our core food and personal care product lines.

“I look forward to partnering with Frulact as a core supplier to ensure the continued growth and success of their fruit preparation business.”

According to the deal, Sensient will be supplying flavours, colours and other related products used by Frulact for its fruit preparation business.

Completion of the deal is expected to take place in the third quarter of this year.

The two companies have also agreed to work together to ensure an efficient transition of the product line.

In July 2018, Sensient Technologies acquired Canadian botanical extraction technology provider Mazza Innovation for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition was part of Sensient’s ‘seed to shelf’ strategy, which focuses on innovation across the value chain for natural and organic ingredients.

Sensient makes use of Mazza’s extraction technology to address customer demand for pure ingredients within food and beverage, nutraceutical and other products.
