Global plant-based ingredients provider Roquette has opened a food customer technical service (CTS) centre in Singapore.

The technical centre will strengthen Roquette’s position in Asia and address changing dietary habits and lifestyles.

Roquette Food Global Business Unit vice-president Rod Quin said: “The opening of this new Food CTS Center in Singapore is a proof-point of our resolve to better serve our customers.

“This region is a major focus area for us and this new centre will help us extend our activities into key markets in the region by bringing us closer to our customers.

“Roquette is strongly positioned to meet specific Asian consumer needs in food, nutrition and health markets as dietary habits and lifestyles continue to evolve.”

“This region is a major focus area for us and this new centre will help us extend our activities into key markets.”

With its food CTS centre, Roquette intends to predict and respond to the growing demand for Asia-specific product applications in food, nutrition and health segments.

The facility is expected to further enhance Roquette’s technical capabilities in the Asian region, as it currently depends on CTS centres located in China, India, Japan and Singapore.

Roquette said the move will allow it to further develop its partnerships with customers, universities and research institutions in the region.

It will also help the company to offer tailored solutions that are in line with the preferences, health requirements and cultural needs of Asian consumers.

The customer base of the food CTS centre will include multinational firms, regional players and local start-ups. It will have a range of capabilities, including formulation, texture improvement and new application development.

By combining technology and expertise at its new CTS centre, the company aims to develop solutions with a distinctive sensory experience in baking, dairy, confectionary, savoury and specialised nutrition markets. Roquette intends to staff the new centre with five scientists by the end of this year.
