Riviana Foods expands production capacity of ready-to-eat rice plant

Ebro Foods’ wholly owned subsidiary Riviana Foods has increased the production capacity of its microwaveable rice products by investing in its ready-to-serve rice plant in Memphis, US.

The company has made an investment of $27m in order to double the production capacity of the facility.

Riviana chief operating officer Enrique Zaragoza said: “We will be in a stronger position to meet or exceed customer needs for the product.

“Just as important, this investment confirms our commitment as a partner with our employees and the Memphis business community.”

The investment is said to be in response to increasing demand for Riviana Foods’ products, the second such investment by the company in its Memphis facility over the last three years. In addition, the company also invested in its packaging plant.

The expansion will see 25 new employment opportunities in production, shipping, maintenance and supervision, boosting total headcount at the facility to 384. Overall, this is the fifth expansion at the Riviana complex.

Riviana’s microwaveable rice products are sold under the Minute Rice brand, which offers customers variety and nutrition with exceptional, proportioned convenience and is available in 19 different varieties, including Jasmine Rice, Multi-Grain Medley, Organic Brown Rice, Organic White Rice, Organic Red and Organic White and Red Quinoa.
