Oversea Casing acquires DeWied International in US

US sausage-casing producer Oversea Casing has completed the acquisition of Texas-based casing producer DeWied International for an undisclosed price.

The acquired company will be operating under the new name called Oversea DeWied International, which is said to become the largest US-owned sausage-casing company.

Oversea Casing CEO Michael Mayo said: “We are very excited about our future and can’t wait to leverage the synergies from combining the talent, experience, technology, and passion of both companies.”

The two companies have been present in the sausage-casing manufacturing sector and have a combined experience of more than 176 years.

DeWied president and CEO Howard de Wied said: “Oversea Casing was by far the best partner to join forces with. Our family business has always deeply cared about our customers, vendors and employees and the team at Oversea Casing shares these core values. We are confident we are leaving our stakeholders in good hands.”

The new business entity will maintain headquarters in Seattle and Washington, and subsidiaries in San Antonio, Texas, Mexico City, Mexico, British Columbia, Canada and Jiangsu province in China.

Oversea DeWied International will also maintain its production facility located in Piedras Negras, Mexico.

Mayo added: “This bigger and stronger base of operations will help facilitate several initiatives.

“We will be better able to quickly and effectively conduct business across the entire North American continent, as well as internationally, utilising many economies of scale that will make us more efficient and ultimately more profitable.”
