Nothing Bundt Cakes acquires six San Diego Bakeries

US-based Nothing Bundt Cakes (NBC) has expanded its presence in the San Diego market with the acquisition of six NBC franchisee bakeries (San Diego Bakeries).

NBC is a portfolio company of private equity firm Levine Leichtman Capital Partners (LLCP), which acquired the former in 2016 by partnering with the management team.

The six San Diego bakeries will support NBC’s west coast bakery owners, as well as serving as NBC’s research and development and product innovation base.

Nothing Bundt Cakes CEO Kyle Smith said: “We are thrilled to add these San Diego Bakeries to our company-owned portfolio that includes locations in Dallas, Texas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

“We believe that this acquisition provides us with a great opportunity to improve our overall support to our bakery owners while providing an extraordinary experience to our guests.”

Established in 1997, NBC offers a wide range of bundt cakes in a variety of sizes and flavours. It operates more than 320 corporate and franchised bakeries in the US and Canada. This deal will allow NBC to establish more direct touch-points with its customers and facilitate guest satisfaction.

The companies involved have not disclosed the deal value.
