US-based Schwan’s Company has acquired Better Baked Foods and Drayton Foods from NE Foods for an undisclosed amount.

Located in Pennsylvania, Better Baked Foods produces pizza and sandwich items for private-label customers and foodservice venues.

The company also offers retail brands such as Better Baked Classics, Daybreak Classics, Papa Presto, Zap-A-Snack and Odyssey foods.

“We are focused on adding to our capabilities and growing our share of the US pizza market."

Better Baked Foods has production facilities in North East and Erie, Pennsylvania; as well as Westfield, New York.

Based in Fargo, North Dakota, Drayton Foods manufactures pizza crusts, dough balls, breadsticks and dinner rolls for its customers in the food industry, and offers its Two Sicily’s brand to retail stores.

Schwan Company CEO Dimitrios Smyrnios said: “We are focused on adding to our capabilities and growing our share of the US pizza market.

“The addition of Better Baked, Drayton and MaMa Rosa’s to Schwan’s will deepen our collaborations with strategic foodservice and retail customers on innovating and growing the pizza category and meeting consumer demand.”

In June, Schwan’s Company acquired Ohio-based MaMa Rosa’s Pizza.
