Switzerland-based food company Hochdorf Holding has acquired production company Zifru Trockenprodukte, Zittau, and Snapz, the children’s food brand, for an undisclosed sum.

Following the acquisition, the company expanded its product portfolio in its cereals and ingredients division.

With the purchase of Zifru Trockenprodukte and the takeover of the Snapz brand, the company was also able to strengthen the division in the area of healthy children’s nutrition.

The cereals and ingredients division develops and sells a range of products related to healthy nutrition for children.

With the takeover of the Zifru Trockenprodukte, the product range has been extended to include dried vegetables and fruit.

“The integration of the labels is expected to provide an optimal foundation for producing and marketing healthy children’s snacks.”

The products of Zifru have been commercialised for the past few years in Europe and the US under the Snapz brand.

Hochdorf Holding Cereals and Ingredients managing director Michael Burla said: “We have been able to obtain purchasing, production and marketing experience with the acquisition of Zifru and the Snapz brand.”

The integration of the labels is expected to provide an optimal foundation for producing and marketing healthy children’s snacks.

Hochdorf also plans to expand its production plant in Zittau with additional technologies to enable it to offer a comprehensive kids’ food range to the global marketplace.

A wide range of dried fruit and vegetables that are marketed under the Snapz brand are sold in the US and Europe.
