Chobani opens food incubator in New York

Greek yogurt maker Chobani has launched a food incubator in New York to help support entrepreneurs who are interested in providing improved food accessibility.

The new food incubator is targeted at providing food entrepreneurs with resources, workspace and support to launch and disrupt their respective categories.

The primary aim of the incubator would be to move away from overly processed foods and towards healthy, innovative products.

As well as providing commercial kitchens and office space, the incubator will also provide opportunities to collaborate with the Chobani leadership team, classes and training programmes.

Chobani will invest in each of the startups selected for the six-month programme. They will also be given direct access to top chefs and leaders in the food industry.

The aim of the programme is to help the startups facilitate their contacts through Chobani’s extensive network.

Chobani founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya said: "Today we’re opening our doors to entrepreneurs who share our vision for better food for tomorrow, food that’s natural and affordable. Making a product the right way is not always easy, but we’ve proven that the model works. I’m excited to work with entrepreneurs who share our goal and who can benefit from our experience."

The company will organise a demo day where each startup would be given an opportunity to present to food distributors, retailers and investors. The company will select ten interested participants for the programme.
