Impossible Foods debuts plant-based burger at Walmart stores in US

Plant-based meat substitute manufacturer Impossible Foods has launched its Impossible Burger across nearly 2,100 Walmart Supercenter and Walmart Neighborhood Market locations in the US.

With the addition of Walmart stores, Impossible Burger is currently available in 8,000 retail outlets across the US.

Impossible Foods noted that since March, the company has expanded its retail footprint by more than 50 times.

Impossible Foods founder and CEO Dr Patrick O Brown said: “Impossible Foods’ goal is to make the global food system sustainable. To do that, Impossible Burger has to be available everywhere people shop for meat.

“More Americans buy meat for their families at Walmart than anywhere else. We’re confident that once Walmart customers try Impossible, they’ll become enthusiastic advocates of our products and our mission.”

Based in California’s Silicon Valley, Impossible Foods has been engaged in the manufacture of plant-based meat and dairy products since its inception in 2011.

The company claims that its ‘Impossible Burger’ contains much protein and bioavailable iron in comparison to ground beef from cows.

It further added that its product is free from animal hormones and antibiotics, as well as kosher, halal and gluten-free certified.

Impossible Burger will be available in 12oz packages in Walmart’s brick-and-mortar locations and through their Grocery Pickup & Delivery platform.

Last month, Impossible Foods launched its new e-commerce site, enabling customers to buy products with home delivery.

During the launch of the site, the company said that the consumers across 48 states will be able to directly purchase Impossible Burgers.

Impossible Foods stated that with many grocery retail outlets placing restrictions on the purchase of meat products by implementing quotas, home cooks will now have the option to purchase Impossible Burgers in larger quantities on the company’s website.
