FrieslandCampina partners with Royal A-ware on mozzarella production

Dutch dairy group FrieslandCampina has signed an agreement with Royal A-ware for mozzarella cheese production and delivery.

FrieslandCampina will supply milk from its member dairy farmers and take care of sale activities of mozzarella cheese.

Royal A-ware will be responsible for the processing of milk and cheese production in a new location in Heerenveen, the Netherlands.

It is anticipated that cheese created through the agreement will be available for customers at the starting of 2020.

FrieslandCampina Dairy Essentials president Hans Meeuwis said: “Mozzarella cheese is an attractive growth segment. This will enable us to further expand our international position in mozzarella cheese.

“We broaden the offer to our customers and it enables us to further expand our product portfolio. Apart from making smart investments in our own production locations, partnerships are an important part of our strategy to create more value. The previously announced partnership with the DMK Group also fits in this strategy.”

Under the DMK mozzarella agreement, which was announced in December 2018, FrieslandCampina supplies milk and market-finished mozzarella products, while DMK Group provides the production facilities to manufacture the cheese.

DMK has expanded its Georgsmarienhütte manufacturing site in Germany to meet increased production demand.

FrieslandCampina produces and sells consumer products like dairy-based beverages, infant nutrition, cheese and desserts in several European countries, as well as Asia and Africa through its own subsidiaries.

The company has branch offices in 34 countries and employs 23,769 people. Its products are sold in over 100 countries.
