DuPont Nutrition and Health to unveil new starter culture

Danish bio-based company DuPont Nutrition and Health is all set to showcase its YO-MIX M11 starter culture at the upcoming Food Ingredients Asia (Fi Asia) exhibition, which is scheduled to take place in October.

The company will also share its findings from a recent consumer study, which demonstrates the rising demand for nutritional snacks in Southeast Asian markets.

The company claims that its new YO-MIX M11 features a blend of selected strains in order to help dairy manufacturers deliver extra mildness and a creamy texture in yoghurt.

It includes Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus for direct inoculation of manufacturing milk.

DuPont Nutrition and Health Indonesia sales leader Budhy Gautama said: “Many countries in ASEAN face cold-chain logistical challenges.

“YO-MIX M11 is the perfect starter culture for our regions because it performs well even under fluctuating temperature that can occur over the sheer distances food products have to travel.”

The company noted that its starter culture has been designed for flexible yoghurt processing, enabling a longer time in the fermentation tank before cooling or higher cooling temperature to preserve texture.

It also creates a balanced taste profile that ensures consistency and mildness in products throughout their shelf-life.

In January, DuPont Nutrition and Health announced plans to expand three culture manufacturing sites in Europe.

For this expansion, the company announced an investment of $60m, which will be used to increase production capacities of its facilities located in Sassenage and Epernon, France, as well as Niebüll, Germany.
