DFA to invest in MOPRO Nutrition

US-based cooperative Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) has announced plans to invest in the MOPRO Nutrition (MOPRO) yoghurt brand in an effort to boost demand for dairy and support growth within the industry.

DFA intends to help bring new and innovative products to the dairy segment through the initiative.

The financial details of the investment have not been divulged by either of the companies.

MOPRO is primarily engaged in the production of all-natural, high-protein, low-sugar, whole milk Greek yoghurt infused with whey protein and probiotics.

The company’s yoghurt products serve as a replacement for protein bars, protein shakes and regular Greek yoghurt.

DFA and MOPRO are slated to work together to increase product distribution and build brand awareness under the partnership.

DFA senior vice-president and chief of staff Monica Massey said: “As a farmer-owned Cooperative, DFA is continuously looking for innovative ways to bring dairy to consumers, and this investment in MOPRO reflects that commitment.

“We think there’s a lot of growth potential with more natural, high-protein products, and look forward to working with MOPRO to help make them a household brand.”

DFA and MOPRO, along with other companies, were selected in March for the 2018 Accelerator programme, which includes a number of startups focused on agricultural technology and dairy food products.

MOPRO founder Michael Moran said: “I am excited to work with DFA on a permanent basis.

“We developed a nice relationship during the Accelerator programme, and they share my vision for evolving the yoghurt category and bringing the highest-quality and innovative, fresh nutrition products to the marketplace.”
