Deals this week: Holachef Hospitality Private Limited, Xiwang Foodstuffs, Maplebear

Holachef Hospitality Private Limited has raised venture funding of Rs20m ($0.31m) from Ashok Kumar Gajera.

Based in India, Holachef Hospitality Private Limited is an operator of the online food delivery platform, Holachef.

Xiwang Foodstuffs intends to raise CNY1.67bn ($264.26m) through the private placement of 96.2 million shares priced at CNY17.36 ($2.76) a share.

Based in China, Xiwang Foodstuffs is a corn germ oil products maker and seller.

Maplebear (Instacart) has raised $200m in a Series E funding round led by Coatue Management LLC, Glade Brook Capital Partners LLC, and others.

The total funding secured by Instacart has increased to $900m, following the deal.

Maplebear (Instacart) is an online grocery delivery platform, while Coatue Management is a hedge fund sponsor, and Glade Brook Capital Partners is a private equity firm.

All the entities involved in the deal are based in the US.

Maplebear will use the proceeds to improve its software and for other general corporate purposes.

Lesaffre has purchased Alltech’s yeast extract facility located in Serbia.

The Serbian facility will be renamed as Biospringer RS and continue to produce baker’s yeast and yeast extracts for the Serbian market.

Lesaffre is a French yeast manufacturer, while Alltech is a producer of natural animal nutrition and health products based in the US.

The deal is expected to strengthen Lesaffre’s position in the yeast extract market.

Sensient Technologies (Sensient) plans to acquire GlobeNatural’s natural colour business.

The natural colour business will operate as Sensient Natural Colors Peru, following the deal.

The transaction is expected to be closed by the end of Q1 2018.

Based in the US, Sensient is a manufacturer and marketer of flavours, while GlobeNatural is a South American natural food and ingredients company.
