Conagra Brands recalls chicken and turkey products over contamination

US-based packaged food company Conagra Brands’ establishments in Russellville, Arkansas, and Marshall, Missouri, are recalling nearly 276,872lb of not ready-to-eat (RTE) chicken and turkey bowl products as they could contain extraneous material, specifically small rocks.

According to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the scope of recalled products has been expanded.

The products that are subject to the recall include 9.5oz cartons containing ‘Healthy Choice POWER BOWLS Chicken Feta & Farro’, 7.2oz cartons containing ‘Heathy Choice POWER BOWLS Unwrapped Burrito Scramble’ and 7.2oz cartons containing ‘Healthy Choice POWER BOWLS Turkey Sausage & Egg White Scramble.’

Additionally, the recall includes 204g cartons containing ‘Healthy Choice POWER BOWLS BOILS ÈNERGIE PETIT DÈJJEUNER TOUTE JOURNÈE Turkey Sausage & Egg White Scramble’ and 204g ‘Heathy Choice POWER BOWLS BOILS ÈNERGIE PETIT DÈJJEUNER TOUTE JOURNÈE Unwrapped Burrito Scramble’ cartons.

FSIS noted that they are produced on various dates and at two different establishments. The products were distributed to various retail locations across the country and exported to Canada.

The regulatory authority also said that the latest recall issued is an expansion of the 10 April 2020 recall and includes additional products.

It said that the issue was identified after the company received additional consumer complaints about rocks in the products.

No confirmed reports of adverse reactions have so far been reported due to the consumption of the products.

FSIS stated that anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider. Consumers were urged not to consume the products and either throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
