Coalition for Global Protein created by Tyson Foods

US-based meat producer Tyson Foods has created the Coalition for Global Protein to promote and advance the future of sustainable protein.

Through the Coalition for Global Protein, Tyson Foods aims to bring together stakeholders across the food and agriculture sector. Its aims to explore and develop new solutions to sustainably feed the increasing world’s population.

Tyson Foods plans to organise a meeting with leaders from the global protein industry. It will also include non-governmental organisations and financial institutions at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Tyson Foods CEO Noel White said: “As one of the world’s largest food companies, we want to help ensure the responsible production of affordable, nutritious food for generations to come.

“We’re introducing this Coalition because we know that we cannot achieve this alone. Collective commitment and immediate action are needed to deliver the greatest impact on the future of sustainable food production.”

Initially, stakeholders who are part of the coalition will work together to align on the focus areas.

The coalition aims to address issues such as food loss and wastage. It also has the goals of increasing access to protein and safeguarding ecosystems.

Tyson Foods chief sustainability officer John R Tyson said: “We’re focused on uniting the world’s most influential, food-focused stakeholders around a shared purpose to build a future of protein that is sustainable and equitable across global communities – at every link in the supply chain.

“Igniting transformative change in our food system requires industry-wide collaboration and a willingness to go beyond our individual businesses through strong commitments and actions.”
