Cargill Protein to centralise regional warehousing in Texas

Cargill Protein is planning to centralise its regional warehousing operations in the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex in Texas, US, to help improve its capacity and supply chain efficiency.

The changes will also allow the company to serve more customers in the retail, foodservice and food ingredients segment.

The DFW warehouse distribution centre will be managed by a contractor and is expected to commence its operations later this year.

Cargill Food Distribution general manager Rick Johnson said: “The DFW area was the logical choice for Cargill to centralise our regional warehousing operation as it has an excellent warehouse, distribution and logistics infrastructure and major highways to all of our key markets in the region.

“The move underscores Cargill’s commitment to design food distribution systems focused on delivering wholesome, sustainable and affordable food to consumers. It allows Cargill to scale our growth by providing customers greater capacity, more product variety and more efficient distribution.”

The centre will be consolidating Cargill operations in San Antonio, Texas, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Additionally, the DFW warehouse will collaborate closely with other Cargill protein businesses, which includes several value-added meat processing facilities, and will join other Cargill food distribution warehouse operations in the US, serving retailers, foodservice operators and food processors.

Headquartered in Wichita, Kansas, Cargill offers meat products to its customers by working with farmers and food companies. It has a workforce of more than 32,000 employees at its facilities in the US and Canada.
