2SFG receives funding for Coupar Angus plant in Scotland

UK-based 2 Sisters Food Group (2SFG) has received funding from the Food Processing Marketing and Co-operation Grant Scheme that will be used for the Coupar Angus plant in Scotland.

With the financial backing, 2SFG intends to double the cutting capacity in its portions department. The grant will be used to purchase the new equipment required to increase facility capacity.

The company is planning to make a total investment of £5m, which comprises the £1.5m grant and £3.5m of funds from other sources.

2 Sisters UK poultry managing director Keith Packer said: “We are committed to providing fresh, quality produce to our customers and creating a shorter supply chain enables us to do just that.

“We have always said we will invest when it is the right thing to do for the business, but the timing and conditions have to be right. This is a great example of that.

“I am delighted that we have secured the support from the Scottish Government as this represents security and growth for our business and local community in Perthshire.”

The investment is said to be in-line with the company’s strategy of developing shorter supply chains, which would reduce food waste, logistics and distribution costs.

The Food Processing Marketing and Co-operation Grant is also expected to create more than 250 new jobs across all levels and departments, ranging from production operatives to technical management.
