US meatpacker Excel Corp is recalling more than 400,000 pounds of beef because it was mislabelled, the US Agriculture Department has said.

Emmpak Foods, a division of Excel, is recalling the ready-to-eat beef products made in Nebraska and Wisconsin because they contain an undeclared ingredient, hydrolysed soy protein.
The products are also labelled as containing MSG or hydrolysed corn gluten, which is not present in the products.
The recalled products that were made in Nebraska bear the establishment code, EST. 86J, or EST. 567, inside the USDA inspection seal. They were sold to grocery stores in Florida, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee and Wisconsin. The beef products were processed between May 24 and Aug. 14 and are marked with freeze-by dates between July 5 and Nov 12.
Products excluded from the recall are marked with the freeze-by dates of 09-22-03, 09-28-03, 11-01-03 and 11-08-03.
