US Foods to take over SRA Foods

US Foods has agreed to acquire Alabama-based SRA Foods, which is engaged in meat processing and distribution activities.

Expected to close later this month, financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Established in 1940, SRA Foods has a 70,000ft² facility that features a product line of more than 1,000 food items.

SRA Foods president Anthony Anselmo said: "We are proud to be joining US Foods, a company that shares our vision for providing our valued customers with the highest levels of quality and service.

“We’re pleased US Foods will continue to invest in our business and support our employees and the community of Birmingham."

US Foods anticipates that the acquisition would help in strengthening its position in the region, as well as offer wider range of products.

US Foods’ Stock Yards president David Norton said: “The Anselmo family has built an incredible reputation for providing only the highest quality meats to more than 1,000 customers throughout the Birmingham area.

“We are excited to be able to expand our offering throughout the south region and beyond by bringing SRA Foods into the US Foods family.”

US Foods will continue to operate the SRA Foods facility in Birmingham, and is expected to retain its employees.
