Snyder’s pretzels production facility in Pennsylvania becomes peanut-free

US-based snack manufacturer Snyder’s-Lance has made its Pennsylvania pretzel manufacturing facility peanut-free in order to meet the growing demand from consumers for allergen-free snacks.

The company's pretzel brand, Snyder’s of Hanover, offers a wide range of products across the US including sandwiches and pretzel minis.

The firm was quoted by Bakeryandsnacks.com as stating: “Now that our bakeries are peanut-free facilities, it makes pretzels an even better choice, especially for kids with peanut allergies.”

This transition will cut down the risks of cross-contamination.

Most of the company's brands are already nut-free.

Snyder’s-Lance manufactures nut-based pretzels at its Canonsburg facility in Pennsylvania.

With the peanut-free transition, Snyder’s pretzels will carry peanut-free icon and allergen information on the packs.

Last month, Kellogg, Mars and Hostess recalled several of their brands over concerns of presence of peanut residue in Grain Craft flour.
