Nestlé to build new manufacturing facility in Sri Lanka

Global food company Nestlé has started construction of its new manufacturing facility at Pannala, Kurunegala, Sri Lanka.

With the new plant, the company intends to expand production capacity for its dairy and coconut-based products, as well as offer more goods catering to local tastes and nutritional needs.

Nestlé Lanka managing director Shivani Hegde said: "We are committed to Sri Lanka and believe in the country's growth potential.

"Our new investment reinforces our purpose of enhancing the quality of life of the people of Sri Lanka as it will empower the farmers we work with daily and uplift their lives."

For more than a century, Nestlé has been operating in Sri Lanka and products are manufactured using local ingredients.

The company claimed that it has continuously made significant investments to support and develop Sri Lanka's rural economy, especially in the dairy and coconut sectors. It has also introduced new manufacturing technologies and provided local consumers with quality products and services.
