Icelandic Group has completed the sale of its UK-based subsidiary Icelandic Group UK (Seachill) to Hilton Food Group in a deal valued at £84m.

The sale of Seachill to Hilton, a company specialised in the international meatpacking business, was announced by Icelandic Group last month.

Seachill will now become a standalone division of Hilton and its existing management team will continue.

The company’s existing CEO Simon Smith will continue to lead the business as a divisional head of Hilton.

“We are pleased the acquisition has completed and look forward to broadening our offering into fish and seafood to our UK and overseas customers.”

Hilton Food Group chief executive Robert Watson OBE said: “We are pleased the acquisition has completed and look forward to broadening our offering into fish and seafood to our UK and overseas customers.

Seachill supplies chilled and frozen natural whitefish and salmon products within the coated and ready-to-eat fish sectors. The company also owns The Saucy Fish Co.

Hilton, which was established in 1994 to set up and operate a beef and lamb central meatpacking facility in the UK, supplies major international retailers and business from its facilities.

The company currently has six factories across Europe in addition to two joint ventures, which allow the group’s products to be sold in supermarkets across 14 countries in Europe.
