Heartland Food Products to expand operations in Indiana

Heartland Food Products has unveiled plans to expand its operations in Indianapolis, Indiana, US, with an investment of $21.2m.

As part of the project, the drink mixes and zero calorie sweeteners supplier will add new production lines, high-speed filling machines, packaging equipment and blending equipment.

The investment will be made at the company’s production and distribution facilities on the north side of Indianapolis.

The expanded facilities will create over 50 new jobs next year and a total of 160 jobs by 2017.

Additionally, the company plans to add new roles at its headquarters in Carmel to cater to the increasing demand for its products.

Heartland Food Products CEO Ted Gelov said, "We have made substantial investments in both technology and people to drive success for Heartland and our retail partners."

"Indianapolis offers a strong local workforce, great logistical advantages and a manufacturing and technology infrastructure to fuel our growth," he added.

Based on its job creation plans, the company will receive up to $1.2m in conditional tax credits from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.

Established in 2004, Heartland produces drink mixes and zero calorie sweeteners in various versions, flavours and packaging formats, and supplies store brand beverage enhancers to retailers across the US.
