Hearthside Food Solutions starts production in Boise, Idaho

Independent baker and a full-service contract manufacturer Hearthside Food Solutions has started production at its nutritional bar facility in Boise, Idaho, US.

The company expects to enhance nutritional bar capacity in the country and create new job opportunities in Boise.

Hearthside chairman and CEO Rich Scalise said: “This commencement validates our forward-looking investments in strategic contract manufacturing resources, providing customers with increased options and greater supply chain value.

“We will continue to invest and expand our world-class manufacturing network to meet the demands of premier food companies.”

The nutritional bar facility was idled for a short period of time before it was acquired by Hearthside last year, which enabled the company to immediately add this facility to its US capacity.

“This facility enables continued growth; adding new customers in the rapidly growing nutritional, sport, and breakfast bar markets."

Hearthside accelerated the hiring process for the local plant leadership, retrofit, upgrade and restart the reconfigured plant.

The new 185,000ft² facility is located at 7031 S. Eisenman Road and will employ about 168 people when it reaches full production. Line one of this multi-line facility has already begun production.

Hearthside Food Solutions supply chain senior vice-president Dwayne Hughes said: “This facility enables continued growth; adding new customers in the rapidly growing nutritional, sport, and breakfast bar markets.

“Boise is a strong, business-friendly market with a skilled workforce, outstanding infrastructure and easy access to the rest of the nation.”

At the time of this acquisition, Hearthside also acquired VSI, a European nutritional bar producer.
