Canadian Government provides financial support to Mazza Innovation

The Canadian Government has announced a C$1.1m ($841,395) investment to Mazza Innovation to support the expansion of its plant extract production facility in Delta, British Columbia. 

Mazza Innovation specialises in producing plant extracts using healthy and clean technologies.

Canadian Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities Carla Qualtrough said: “This is a solid example of the government partnering with agri-based companies on innovations that add value to agricultural products, create good local jobs and bring economic prosperity to the agricultural sector and to our community of Delta."

The investment will be used by Mazza Innovation to install innovative drying technology and expand its laboratory.

This expansion will also help the firm to meet the demand for phytonutrients, which give plants their vibrant colours and are used as an ingredient for functional foods, dietary supplements and beauty products.

Mazza Innovation president Benjamin Lightburn said: “This investment will help us meet demand from personal care, food supplement and food manufacturing companies worldwide.”

The repayable investment is made under the Growing Forward 2 AgriInnovation Program, a five-year, C$698m ($533m) initiative.
