DuPont Nutrition & Health to expand probiotics facility in Monroe County, New York
DuPont Nutrition & Health is expanding its operations at Eastman Business Park (EBP) in Monroe County, New York, US.
The company intends to expand its manufacturing facility to enhance production of probiotics, which will be used in food, beverages and dietary supplements.
The firm expects majority of the expansion work to be completed by the second half of next year.
This expansion is expected to create 48 new jobs and retain an additional 56 jobs.
New York governor Andrew Cuomo said: "DuPont's decision to expand its manufacturing operations in Rochester is a testament to the area's growing business climate and the top-notch workforce.
"By supporting the expansion of this global innovative company, new jobs will be created for men and women across the region to continue our efforts in moving the Finger Lakes forward."
Empire State Development has offered a grant of up to $1.5m through an Upstate Revitalization Initiative to DuPont Nutrition & Health for the expansion of its operations.
Empire State Development president CEO and commissioner Howard Zemsky said: "Our Finger Lakes Forward economic development plan is supporting innovative businesses like DuPont Nutrition & Health, which is creating and retaining more than a hundred jobs while contributing to sustainable economic growth throughout the region."
Monroe County also intends to offer some incentives to support DuPont Nutrition & Health’s expansion plan.
Last November, DuPont revealed that it will expand its US probiotics production capacity with an investment of more than $100m under a multiphase plan.
