Denali Ingredients to expand Wisconsin facility

US-based Denali Ingredients has announced plans to expand its facility in New Berlin, Wisconsin.

Located at 2400 S Calhoun Road, the expansion will be carried out in two phases with an investment of around $12m.

In 2006, the company acquired the 40-year old facility, which has been serving the company’s ice cream and food ingredients segments.

During the first phase, the company plans to invest $5.5m on a complete re-facing of the exterior façade, and interior renovations.

The renovations include a new innovation centre to encourage research, development and creative flavour collaboration with industry partners, as well as a pilot lab where Denali can simulate full-scale manufacturing of new concepts.

The second phase of the investment will see addition of new production capabilities, creating between 40 and 50 new jobs.

Work under this phase will be completed in 24 months.

Denali Ingredients president Neal Gleaser said: "We’re investing at a time when many in our industry are moving in the other direction.

"It’s an opportunity for us to get closer to the consumer and to play a larger role in our customer’s own R&D efforts as true collaborators. Ultimately, the entire industry benefits when these new flavours and concepts become mainstream trends in the grocery aisle."
