apetito to invest £31m in food manufacturing facility

Wiltshire Farm Foods owner apetito is planning to invest £31m in its food manufacturing business based in Trowbridge, UK.

The company anticipates that the investment would support its business growth, strengthen the UK economy, and create approximately 40 jobs during the plant expansion.

apetito UK chief executive Paul Freeston said: “As one of largest food manufacturers in the health and social care sector, we remain focused on building our UK business and in doing so supporting the UK economy and our employees with job security.

“apetito is proud of its UK manufacturing base and the economic and social contribution that we make here in Britain, whether as an employer, or in the service we provide in delivering nutritious meals to elderly and vulnerable individuals.”

"We remain focused on building our UK business and in doing so supporting the UK economy and our employees with job security."

The new investment is expected to increase manufacturing capacity and efficiency, as it would feature modern facilities to deliver the highest standards of taste and nutrition, while reducing the carbon footprint by 47%.

The company also intends to extend its factory to support its future growth over the next ten years.

Planning is currently underway for the extended facility, and the construction is expected to begin next year and due for full completion by 2020.

apetito is involved in the food production business for more than two decades, and has been delivering a wide range of products to hospitals, care homes and local government meals-on-wheel services, as well as via its Wiltshire Farm Foods private meal delivery service.
