Al Rawdah to invest $32.6m in poultry farm in UAE

Emirates Modern Poultry (Al Rawdah) has announced its plans to initially invest $32.6m in a new poultry facility at Liwa, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

This invesment is part of the company’s commitment to bolster the country’s food production, reported Arabianbusiness.com.

The firm has entered into agreement for the manufacturing of production machinery with LAE-Anlagenbau; for design and construction of the feed mills with Amandus Kahl; and for carrying out contractual works with Prompt Contracting.

Work on the phase 1 of the facility has already started.

This farming facility will cut down the firm’s dependance on imported hatching eggs by alteast half.

The facility, spanning over an area of 5 million m2 will feature six hen houses, with each house accomodating 7,000 birds.

Al Rawdah posted a turnover of AED180m ($49m) in 2015 and expects its sales to grow by 10% this year.

Al Rawdah chairman Abdalla Al Owais was quoted by the website as saying: "The country, as a whole, will benefit from increased food security and sustainable development through a state-of-the-art facility that can produce its own eggs, hatch its own chicks and guarantee long-term sustainability and excellence."
