20 November 2009

Issaquah City in the US plans to ban polystyrene takeout containers and other food packaging made from the material.

The ban requires restaurants, grocers, public schools and other food sellers to not use polystyrene containers.

Effective from October 2010, the ban will require users to comply by May 2011.

The city has joined Seattle and Portland, which have already banned polystyrene.
