SIPA Develops Eco-Friendly PET Beer Kegs

16 June 2009

Italian company SIPA has developed a machine that makes PET beer kegs, lowering production costs and reducing its carbon footprint.

SIPA developed the machine with KeyKeg Beer of the Netherlands.

The kegs, which can be used instead of returnable aluminium containers, can be made to hold 15l, 20l, 30l or 40l.

The conversion of aluminium containers to one-trip recyclable PET kegs offers advantages over costs, speed, ease of production and logistics, the company says.

The cleaning and sterilisation of the kegs for reuse is also easy and eco-friendly when compared to the logistics and recycling of aluminium kegs.
