Definition:

Distillation is a process used in the purification of liquids. Liquids can be separated from solids, and other liquids which may contain impurities, by distillation. The liquid is heated to boiling point, the condensed vapour is collected and then re-condensed into a separate container. Extreme purity can be obtained through multiple distillations.
