Term: Condenser

Definition:

Condensers are heat transfer devices used to convert hot gases into liquids. Condensers are usually air-cooled, water-cooled or evaporative (a combination of air and water cooled). Hot gaseous vapour is passed through a tube, which is then exposed to air, or passed through water. This exposure results in the transfer of heat, into the cooler surrounding air or water, causing the vapour to liquid conversion.
