Russell Finex helped Godiva reach the high-quality standards with the installation of Russell Eco Self-Cleaning Filters® and Compact Sieves®. Russell Finex delivers maximum customer satisfaction every time.
Godiva Chocolatier was founded 80 years ago in Brussels, Belgium. It supplies its range of high-quality chocolates in over 80 countries, using only the finest chocolate and high-quality ingredients. Godiva chocolates are found in some of the most prestigious stores around the world, from Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Department Store in central Tokyo to Wanamaker’s in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Foil is commonly used to wrap chocolate because of its decorative and luxury appearance. It is also easy to wrap in various shapes. However, this complicates rework processes, as the foil must be removed beforehand and pieces of foil can contaminate the chocolate.
Godiva identified two potential areas where foreign bodies could enter chocolate and looked at how they could eliminate this. Following a visit to its chocolate supplier, Godiva contacted Russell Finex for a solution. In response, an in-depth risk assessment was completed and a combination of in-line filtration units and circular vibratory sieves were provided, which completely covered two critical control points.
Two self-cleaning Russell Eco Filters were installed after each storage tank to remove any contaminant within the tanks that could have been introduced through rework. These in-line filters were chosen due to their high-flow rates and self-cleaning design, meaning operator involvement is kept to a minimum.
The second control point was before the depositors. A bank of Russell Compact Sieves replaced two sieving units, which worked in tandem with the in-line filters.
"The Compact 400 sieves were chosen as they fitted neatly into our existing process without losing the cleanability of the depositors" said Peter Van Ingelghem, Engineering and Maintenance Manager at Godiva.
