Royal Visit Spotlights Wine and Animal Welfare

07 August 2007 13:56

King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark visited FOSS headquarters today.

The royal party were shown around the FOSS production facilities by FOSS founder, Nils Foss and FOSS presidents Peter Foss and Torben Ladegaard.

A glimpse of the future of dairy farming was provided in the form of new instrumentation being developed to help dairy farmers ensure animal welfare and milk quality on increasingly large, industrial scale farms. Wine analysis solutions used throughout the wine production process were also presented including a live demonstration of how analytical instruments can be used for judging the quality of finished wines.

Peter Foss described how it had been a pleasure to receive guests with such a keen interest in FOSS activities. "The royal party showed a considerable knowledge of our business area and asked pertinent questions about the core value of our analytical solutions," he said.

The visit was part of a three day official state visit to Denmark focusing on integration across the cross-border 'Øesund Region' of which FOSS is a good example with main offices on either side of the Øresund strait – the narrow channel dividing the two countries. It was the first such official state visit from Sweden in 32 years.
