Bruker Optics Offers Dedicated Solutions for the Feed Industry

Bruker Optics has teamed up with Central Laboratories (CL), UK, to provide dedicated quality control solutions for the feed industry.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- March 14, 2006 -- Bruker Optics today announced a new collaboration to provide INGOT® calibrations for rapid and non-destructive quality control for the feed industry.

The quality of feed has a significant impact on livestock productivity and animal nutrition is the largest variable cost associated with livestock production. A reliable analysis of feed and feed ingredients is the best way to ensure a balanced feeding program and therefore the profitability of any livestock operation.

Bruker Optics' Fourier Transform Near Infrared (FT-NIR) spectrometers offer a fast and cost-effective solution for the non-destructive analysis of various feed and feed ingredient samples for quality control applications. Multiple parameters can be obtained from a single measurement, and samples can be analyzed directly in seconds, saving costs by reducing time and reagent use. For the optimization of the feed mixing process various types of samples such as corn meal, soy meals, wheat, rapeseeds, animal meals and others can be rapidly analyzed for parameters such as protein, oil, dry matter, fiber and ash, as well as more specialized parameters.

Central Laboratories (CL), UK are recognized as one of the world leaders in NIR calibration development. Based on their technical knowledge and resources a unique NIR spectral database; INGOT®, was formed with universal NIR calibrations for the analysis of raw materials and finished products in feed and feed ingredients. INGOT® is available for Bruker Optics FT-NIR spectrometers at different levels, from individual product calibrations to comprehensive methods for an array of different products and parameters.
