The current trend in consumer demands for more and diversified beverages has created a new challenge for manufacturers. Now “efficient operations” has a new definition as the range of products has grown significantly. Previously, efficiency was calculated by cost per case with dedicated lines for only a few products. Today single lines must produce a range of products with shorter run times, more changeovers, and a wider range of ingredients; while still keeping the cost low.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for manufacturers now focus on start-up and changeover efficiency, minimal yield losses, set point accuracy with tighter process tolerances and energy efficiency, alongside distribution.
