Dairy pasteurisation has became more and more energy efficient and with the new Tetra Therm Lacta 10 unit Tetra Pak can offer an economic and safe processing solution that suits most modern dairies.
Tetra Therm Lacta 10 is a dairy pasteurisation unit designed for continuous processing and pasteurisation of market milk, cheese milk, yoghurt milk, cream, ice cream mix and other low acid liquid dairy products.
As standard Tetra Therm Lacta is automated to safeguard production. Production is strictly controlled by production recipes with processing parameters. Main process sequences are:
- Pre-sterilisation
- Filling
- Production / circulation
- Intermediate cleaning
- Emptying
- Cleaning-In-Place
Standard units have fixed capacities between 5,000l/h and 35,000l/h for milk and 1,000l/h to 10,000l/h for cream.
Hibernation mode
In order to preserve energy the unit can be set in hibernation mode. This mode reduces energy consumption with up to 85% by reducing the power, steam and water consumption. The hibernation mode is used when there is a time gap between pre-sterilisation and production.
During ordinary processing the energy consumption is reduced with up to 12% compared to previous pasteurisation units.
Smart logging function
The control system provides feed-back information from the last 10 production runs on processed milk capacities, processed cream capacities, temperatures, running times, latest CIPs and the status of the same, critical alarms. This improved control system makes traceability an easy and standardised task.
Pre-erected and tested
The Tetra Therm Lacta 10 unit is assembled at the Tetra Pak workshop on a stainless steel frame. The unit is tested with water before delivery and is thus easy to install and commission for fast production start up.
The unit is complete with all pumps, valves, balance tank, tubular holding cell, hot water unit and control panel with operator interface. Adjacent a Tetra Plex plate heat exchanger is connected.
Additional units
A complete milk treatment line needs more than just a pasteuriser. Additional units can easily be connected to the Tetra Therm Lacta 10. The list of additional units includes:
- Tetra Alrox Lacta deaeration unit
- Tetra Centri separation unit
- Tetra Alfast automatic standardisation unit
- Tetra Alex homogeniser for full or partial homogenisation
- Spiral holding cell for increased holding time
Gentle treatment
Milk is sensitive for thermal chocks and violent mechanical treatment. In the Tetra Therm Lacta 10 Tetra Pak has built in all its experience from more than 100 years within the dairy industry to make a pasteurisation unit that keeps the milk’s freshness and taste at a very high level.
