Tetra Pak Hoyer Continuous Freezer Helps Speed Porrelli Customer Response

Porrelli Speciality Desserts have doubled capacity at their Paisley, Renfrewshire ice cream manufacturing plant with the recent supply of a Tetra Pak Hoyer Frigus SF 600 continuous freezer.
The increased output Porrelli are now able to achieve has improved their response times to customers’ individual requirements for sorbets, and dairy and non-dairy ice cream products in containers from 0.5 litre to 10 litres.
“We chose the Tetra Pak Hoyer Frigus SF 600 continuous freezer as it has a vertical barrel which is far easier to strip down and clean, and it has a one piece blade which is much safer and easier to handle,” said Enzo Durante, Porrelli’s managing director. “Product quality is good as well. With an overrun of between 60% and 100%, we can just set the machine and let it run and we know that we can maintain consistency throughout.”
The Hoyer Frigus SF 600 continuous freezer has the capacity to run at up to 600 litres per hour, but it gives Porrelli the flexibility to produce at as little 160 litres per hour for short runs or for use in the more labour intensive filled products. This is achieved without any loss of performance, thanks to its hot gas defrosting system, which ensures accurate regulation of viscosity as well as automatic freeze-up protection.
Hoyer Frigus SF freezers are equipped with a highly efficient self-contained R404 refrigeration system. The freezer is designed for easy installation and mobility in the factory and only require connection to water and electricity.
The vertical freezing cylinder with its hard chromium plated surface provides extremely efficient freezing. A piston pump meters ice cream mix and air intake. The frozen ice cream is discharged from the cylinder by means of a constant pressure valve.
