Tetra Pak, one of the world's leading suppliers of processing and packaging equipment to the food industry, is investing €32.6 million in two new buildings at Lund, in Sweden.
Dennis Önsson, president and CEO of the Tetra Pak Group, commented: "This investment provides us with flexible premises for units such as our research and development department. The new buildings will enable us to increase our productivity in both development and production and will more than meet our future space requirements."
The new premises, with a floor space of 13,000m², will accommodate 430 workplaces and a machine hall of 5,000m². Construction is planned to begin at the turn of 2007 and 2008, with a completion date at the end of 2009. Tetra Pak will ensure that energy efficiency and environmental awareness will be considered at all stages of the construction process.
Göran Harryson, the managing director of Tetra Pak, added: "As a result of this investment we will have the potential to further strengthen our position as the technological centre for the Tetra Pak Group."
The investment in Lund follows the announcement in March of plans to build a €60 million state-of-the-art packaging plant at Hohhot, in China.
