Buxom Poultry

Buxom Poultry - Used Poultry-Processing Equipment

Buxom Poultry, a poultry-processing company, was established in the late 1960s and became the largest poultry-processing company in Malta. In 2004, when Malta joined the EU, the company upgraded its operations to comply with EU regulations and fully automated its slaughtering facilities.

When Malta joined the EU, Buxom Poultry was processing between 10,000 and 12,000 birds per day. Under pre-EU regulations, the Maltese poultry market was protected by high import-levies and the country could produce the volume of poultry required without the need to import from abroad.

However, once Malta joined the EU and the Maltese market was opened to allow free trade, Buxom Poultry found a number of difficulties in competing with larger and more efficient organisations.

Buxom Poultry's management tried a number of options to obtain economies of scale and retain profitability, but none were able to achieve the required success.

The company therefore ceased operating in February 2006, and is looking to dispose of its machinery. This comprises a fully-automated poultry-processing line.

POULTRY PRODUCTION LINE

The Buxom Poultry production line is primarily composed of components constructed by the leading Dutch poultry-processor company, Meyn.

The line operates at a capacity of 3,000 to 3,500 birds per hour. It is in an excellent condition, having been reconditioned as recently as 2003. It is also easy to use, as it can be controlled by a single control panel.
