EagleBurgmann - Mechanical Seals, Gas-Lubricated Seals, Dry-Running Agitator Seals and Valve-Sealing SetsEagleBurgmann is one of the world's leading seal-system manufacturers, currently employing 4,100 people in over 50 subsidiaries and joint-ventures worldwide. 2005 sales reached €342 million. EagleBurgmann's products are safe, reliable and can be utilised in virtually all industries, including power stations, the chemical industry, refineries, shipbuilding, marine engineering, aerospace, offshore installations, automotive engineering, paper-making and sugar-production. EagleBurgmann provides:
GAS-LUBRICATED AGSZ SEAL FOR AGITATORSThe Burgmann AGSZ agitator seal for food industry, pharmaceutical and chemical slow-rotating machines is independent of the direction of rotation, and designed for the top drives of steel, high-grade steel and enamelled tanks with DIN 28141 connections and DIN 28154 or DIN 28137 T2 / DIN 28159 shaft ends. AGSZ agitator seals can be used in sterile processes: they are CIP and SIP capable, and cleaning and sterilisation are thus possible without the seals being dismantled. All materials that come into contact with the product are approved by the FDA. The neutrally arranged solid silicon carbide (SiC) rotating-seat interacts with the far wider sliding-faces to provide a gas film of far greater stability, safer operation and lower buffer-gas consumption. The stationary spring-backing of the seal faces makes the AGSZ less sensitive to radial movements such as shaft wobble or shaft skew. A specially designed clamping-ring for torque transmission enables ±2mm axial movement of the shaft. The high-strength DLC seal-face coating guarantees excellent emergency running characteristics in the start-up and slow-down phases, or during failure of the buffer-gas supply. Being double-balanced, the seal remains closed even when there is no buffer gas, and fewer wearing-parts reduces maintenance costs. The operating limits of the AGSZ agitator-seal are:
9650 T5 TA-LUFT COMPLIANT VALVE-SEALING SETThe stringent volatile-emission regulations in the latest TA-Luft (German clean air act) place extremely demanding requirements on valve-spindle seals. By 2007, all German industrial facilities must conform to IPPC directive 96 / 61 / EC. EagleBurgmann has developed the 9650 T5 (white) TA-Luft-compliant sealing-set for both original and retrofitting of chemical and pharmaceutical sector valves. It meets TA-Luft requirements and the very highest purity standards. The set of packings comprises four or five rings of non-woven aramid fibres saturated with PTFE, and meets the leakage-rates stipulated by VDI guidelines: namely, 10-4 mbar*l/(s*m) at temperatures between -200°C and +280°C. A special 1,000 spindle-strokes springbacking (life-loading) system provides consistent contact pressure on the sealing set, and thus optimal sealing. The 9650 T5 can operate at 40bar pressure and a 2m/s sliding velocity, and has a chemical resistance of pH 0-14. MECHANICAL GAS-LUBRICATED AGITATOR SEALSBurgmann's gas-lubricated mechanical seal for low-speed DIN agitators has a two-version sealing system, and can be designed as both a double or single seal. It can be employed in steel and enamelled vessels. The gas grooves required for pressure build-up are machined into the stationary seats. The shape of the groove, with its depth tapering-off, ensures lifting of the seal-face pairing even at very low speeds. A special design in the seal face prevents the seal opening in a buffer-gas failure. The buffer-gas consumption of this gas-lubricated seal depends on pressure and speed. This agitator seal is specifically intended for top-mounted drives, where no buffer fluid or abrasion particles are allowed to enter. It provides contact-free running, low wear and energy consumption, and no product contamination. The operating limits of the gas-lubricated agitator seal are:
DRY-RUNNING SECCOMIX® SINGLE-SEAL FOR AGITATORSThe new Seccomix dry-running single-seal is designed for gas-blanket sealing on all mixers and agitators with top drives, particularly in the food-processing, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Specially selected combinations of material (SiC and FDA approved carbon; aluminium-oxide and carbon) ensure reliable operation. The seal can be used with a rinse-and-wash cup to catch fines. An integrated clamping mechanism creates a non-positive connection between the seal and shaft, ensuring good torque input. The Seccomix is balanced, easy to install, and allows pressure reversal, guaranteeing optimal friction values for the sliding faces and ensuring the Seccomix agitator seal always remains closed during pressure fluctuations. Its operating limits are:
