Holzminden and Paris – Fragrance and flavorings manufacturer Symrise will soon be training perfumers again. The corporation, which went public on the German stock market late last year, resulted from a merger of Dragoco and Haarmann & Reimer in 2002; both of these predecessor companies ran perfumery schools at various times in the past. Beginning on April the 1st, 2007, a new generation of perfumers will begin their formal training at Symrise. The program will start off at first with five young talents who have demonstrated their aptitude in a demanding selection process.
The international group of students will complete a three-year program, most of which will take place at the Symrise sites in Holzminden and Paris. The program will include studying aroma chemicals in depth, learning how to develop important perfume structures and acquiring special knowledge of different forms of applications.
The training program consists of both academic studies and application-oriented work; it will enhance students' creativity and teach them skills related to their craft. Symrise's senior perfumer, Egon Oelkers, will be in charge of the program, and other experienced perfumers at the company will serve as mentors to the trainees.
By investing in future generations, Symrise is making a statement in the industry. It is opening doors for talented young people to pursue a highly sought-after career, and in doing so it is acquainting these creative minds with the corporate philosophy and strategy early on.
This approach creates a foundation for developing successful fragrance compositions that are focused on the needs of clients and markets. It also safeguards the scent and care division's success well into the future.
