Symrise to Exhibit at Drinktec in Munich

“Customer focused. Consumer driven” is the motto under which flavor and compound manufacturer Symrise will be showcasing new, custom-tailored drink concepts for the national and international trend markets of tomorrow at this year’s “drinktec” in Munich from September 12 through to 17, 2005.

This years drinktec motto “Go with the flow” is one way to describe today’s international beverage market. In no other segment of the market is so much in motion; consumer preferences are continually changing and new trends keep cropping up. In this kind of fast-paced market, sustained product successes necessitate a total focus on the customer’s needs and a rigorous alignment toward consumer wishes. Symrise’s response to these challenges is reflected by its motto of “Customer focused. Consumer driven”. The company is offering the drinks industry not just new products and flavors, but holistic marketing concepts. They range from innovative product ideas to sensory product development and trend setting flavors right through to packaging ideas and market positioning.

Symrise’s exhibits will focus on six drink concepts. With these concepts – “Healthful and Natural,” “Functionality,” “Thirst-Quenchers,” “Enjoyment,” “Lifestyle” and “Fun” – Symrise demonstrates its extensive drink competence in the non-alcoholic, alcoholic and powdered beverage segments. With its competitive edge in innovation, technology and creativity, caters to the mega-trends of Health, Convenience, Enjoyment and Wellness.

Flavored Water, Near Water and Tea Plus are the attractive product offerings under the “Healthy and Natural drinking” concept. These products invite the consumer to combine the healthy benefits of pure natural water with pure enjoyment. Flavored Water persuades with its fresh, fruity notes.

With additives like natural extracts, vitamins or juices, consumers can look forward to refreshing Near Water products. The Far-Eastern Tea Plus creations offer natural tea extracts that are both healthy and lend an interesting aromatic note to pure water. Because all of these products are low in calories, they satisfy consumer wishes for modern contemporary soft drinks.

Symrise’s innovative strength is reflected by the “Functionality” concept: Omega-3-drinks offer the kind of convincing functional and emotional added value that modern consumers expect today. This concept provides the healthy Omega-3-fatty acids in combination with fruity, exotic flavors like Cherry/Dragonfruit. Omega-3-drinks offer the customer the opportunity of being first to market, and thus the advantage of being able to set their brand apart from the competition – a clear competitive edge in the hotly contested drink market.

Convenience combined with functionality is what characterizes the innovative ACE powdered drink. In addition to the well-known advantages of traditional instant beverages, this powdered drink offers all of the benefits of classical ACEs from the liquid drink segment.

Symrise will be introducing a new generation of soft drinks under its “Thirst Quenchers” concept: Less-sweet spritzers with reduced juice content as well as juice-containing drinks, such as Guava-Strawberry-Feijoa or Apple-Rose with a juice contents of 6 percent and more, without compromising any of the fruity-juicy taste experience. The ability to preserve the intensive taste of these products is based on Symrise’s profound flavors and compound expertise.

In the powdered drink segment, Symrise treats consumers with fruity Instant Drinks, like Pineapple and Lemon, that are characterized by their high solubility and superb taste.

With products that are highly developed from both a sensory and technology standpoint, Symrise offers consumers outstanding taste experiences and its customers the ability to market highly profitable products.

With the “Indulgence ” concept, Symrise is responding to the feel-good and pamper-yourself global mega-trend that manifests itself in such a variety of forms. Right in line with the Convenience trend the creamy, highly soluble Malt-Chocolate powdered drink features the special kick of added malt.

Symrise offers its customers a wide range of products under the “Lifestyle” concept. In the sustained major trend market of Flavored Beer Drinks this segment still has tremendous potential to offer. These fruity, mild Flavored Beer Drinks in attractive small 0.33l bottles stands for lifestyle in its purest form! With this concept, Symrise offers breweries, in particular, the opportunity of using a mix of traditional and new flavors to gain further market share in the non-beer-drinker and female consumer groups.

Herbal liqueurs with fruit, trend liqueurs in new flavors as well as cocktails are offered under the fruity, colorful “Fun” concept.

From classic to cult drink: Herbal liqueurs have advanced to become a true cult drink in recent years – and not just among the younger set. Symrise has picked up on this development with the “Asia” and “Mediterranean” trends, creating new herbal liqueurs with interesting flavors like Lychee. The right concept for a highly profitable market which addresses new young consumer groups! What sets Symrise apart in the trend liqueur segment: New and unusual flavors along with flashy colors.
