New Members of the Symrise Supervisory Board

15 January 2008 12:28

Fragrance and flavorings manufacturer Symrise has a new head of the supervisory board. Andreas Schmid, vice chairman of the board of directors at Barry Callebaut, a leading international chocolate manufacturer, will now serve as chairman.

At today's meeting of the Symrise AG supervisory board, Andreas Schmid was named the new head of the corporate supervisory board. Schmid serves as successor to Goran Lundberg, who was part of the network of consultants of the EQT financial investor who sold its remaining shares in May. Björn Hoi Jensen also left the board and is succeeded by Sanna Suvanto-Harsaae from cleansing-product manufacturer Reckitt Benckiser.

With these new members, Symrise is placing people on the board who represent the industries of its clients. Klaus Kühn, the CFO at Bayer, has already been a part of the Symrise supervisory board since July of this year. Kühn was appointed to replace supervisory board member John Garcia. All of the new members were court-appointed.

"These three new positions mean that our supervisory board consists of people with an exceptionally great amount of expertise in the industry," as Symrise CEO Dr Gerold Linzbach says. "Andreas Schmid and Sanna Suvanto-Harsaae are professionals who know and understand both our own business as well as that of our clients in the perfume, cosmetics and food industries. Klaus Kühn will lead the audit committee and advises the company on all financial matters."
