VEGETABLE EXTRACTS

Vegetable extracts are used globally in a large number of applications by the food and beverage, flavour and fragrance, and tobacco industries.

In its state-of-the-art extraction plant, located in Ossona, Milan, the vegetable extracts division of MARE produces natural extracts and blends. Its main products are::

• Natural ('native') extracts of carob
• Natural ('native') extracts of fenugreek
• Natural ('native') extracts of chicory
• 'Solid' extracts of carob, fenugreek and chicory roots (i.e. formulated blends based on the native extracts, developed for / with the customer)

The natural extracts include aqueous and hydro-alcoholic types, in roasted and unroasted forms.

All vegetable extracts are GMO free, Kosher and Halal certified.

Due to its vast production-capacity, plans are currently being pursued to expand MARE's portfolio, both in the number of natural and solid extracts its supplies, and the types and derivatives of such extracts.

VEGETABLE EXTRACT PRODUCTION

The production process of the natural vegetable extracts supplied by MARE consists of a maceration stage of the vegetable, either in aqueous or hydro-alcoholic solvent, followed by distillation (when required); concentration to reach the desired dry matter content (generally 70% to 80%); and finally roasting (if needed).

The natural vegetable extracts are the basic ingredients for the preparation of the 'solid extracts'. They are mixed with the required ingredients according to the various formulations developed for / with the customers, and are pasteurised.

The large experience the MARE group possesses in both the laboratory and production is an asset constantly available to develop and manufacture the 'solid extracts,' which are suitable for a wide range of applications.
