Some of the sectors where our products are used is chocolate as a nutritional supplement for children, biscuits and bread.

Karmat’s challenge has been to provide a non-fishy smell of omega-3 oil in a formulation that will not give foods an unpleasant taste or smell.

Controlled release ingredient for pharmaceutical drugs

Karnat has great experience in producing microencapsulated ingredients that provide sustained and controlled release of medication through the body. Microencapsulated products in the pharmaceutical industry are common, particularly when sustained release of a medication is required. Some drugs, like insulin, undergo degradation in the stomach; the drug is therefore sometimes encapsulated in cellulosic coating, ethyl cellulose or hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, or other enteric coatings, in order to protect it from the acidic medium of the stomach. Using our ingredient means that, rather than being released all at once, the drug diffuses through the shell in a slow, sustained matter in targeted areas of the body.
