EXTRACTION SERVICES

Blue California's extraction services include product development and extraction capabilities for the nutraceutical and health food industries. We can provide either CO2 technology or alcohol and water extraction for your plant extracts.

BOTANICAL EXTRACTS

Only the best raw materials are used to manufacture our standardized botanical extracts and specialty ingredients. Raw materials used in our extraction facilities are carefully selected and tested for pesticides and active ingredients. Most of our standardized extracts are manufactured using water and alcohol only and are Kosher-certified.

BIOLUT™ LUTEIN ESTERS

Lutein, a yellow carotenoid found in plants and animal tissues, is the primary carotenoid in the macula (the central area of the eye's retina). Clinical studies have shown that lutein may protect the macula from potentially damaging forms of light and thus may slow or stop the progress of Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD).

Biolut™ lutein uses a proprietary and patent-pending process that results in a free-flowing powder containing 90% lutein esters – equivalent to 45% free lutein, the most purified form of lutein currently available.

SPECIALTY INGREDIENTS

Blue California produces specialty ingredients such as alpha lipoic acid, kosher-certified glucosamine sulfate, calcium citrate, quercetin, L-theanine (naturally derived from green tea), N-acetyl-l-carnitine, etc.

NON-IRRADIATED INGREDIENTS

Blue California has implemented a new sterilization technique using ozone, a very efficient and safe antibacterial agent. This sterilization method will ensure that safe total plate count requirements are met while providing non-irradiated ingredients to our customers. Ozone sterilization is FDA approved and environmentally friendly.

GUARANTEED QUALITY

We employ dedicated scientists to constantly improve our manufacturing process and the value of our ingredients. Our Quality Control (QC) department's protocol includes HPLC, microbiology, identity testing and ICP-MS pesticide screening to ensure ingredients are safe.

Photo-Stimulated Luminescence (PSL), a reliable technique used to screen materials for irradiation, has been used by Blue California to supply non-irradiating ingredients to the European market since 2005; we also use ozone or steam sterilization treatment when necessary.

Our QC department has an Atomic-Absorption (AA) spectroscopy for testing heavy metals.

Blue California operates under strict GMP and ISO-9000 quality controls and offer kosher certification and validation by independent laboratories.
